Legend of Spirits

From the framework

Field Notes.

Short-form entries in the same voice as the books — spirit profiles, drink biographies, ingredient stories. The framework, applied one piece at a time.

The nine volumes are long for a reason. They had to be: a biography of alcohol from the Caucasus to the Caribbean is not a weekend read. But the framework the books develop is not long at all. Once you have the framework, every spirit, every drink, every ingredient has a place in it.

Field Notes are the framework applied. A single ingredient — what it is, why it tastes the way it does, where it sits in the flavor map, which drinks rely on it. A single drink — what its skeleton actually is, what makes it work, what's a variation and what's a different drink. A single spirit — what its category really means, what to look for, what to avoid.

Each entry is what could fit on a single sitting. Same voice. Same framework. Smaller piece.
